"Desire to Create' is a research process of solo contemporary dance performance titled the same.
It took place in the context of Creator's programme in "La Faktoria" Choreographic Centre in Pamplona, Spain during study year (2023/2024). I had quite a lot of time and space to be alone in the studio for the first time.
I set out to research movement in heels as well as challenge myself in translating text into choreography.
I recorded vlogs, did field recordings, asked questions, gathered insights, read books, listened to my voice, observed a lot of rehearsal footage, danced in heels, danced barefoot, danced with my face, lipsync*ed, set phrases, did pilates, meditated and looked at the sky.
My friend sent me an exquisite edition of Rilke's "Letters to a Young Poet". The subtle book became my companion in the creative process, while Rilke served as my encourager.
Through my artistic inquiries I spent some time reconnecting with my inner child, healing creative injuries and embracing my own strange skin.
I did share the process with audience on 21st of June, 2024 in "La Faktoria" Choreographic Centre.
