"Best Friend" is an autobiographic contemporary dance performance, where the main inspiration and score is my personal diary. I did start to keep a diary at the age of 14 because of the unnerving urge to confess that I am in love with my classmate - straight boy.
“Best Friend” is a love letter to the author and friends who are performing it.
Performance explores self-acceptence, sexuality, addiction, relationship and other topics relevant in the process of growing up and coming out of the closet as gay person in post-Soviet state.
''Best Friend'' premiered on June 2nd 2021 at Latvian Academy of Culture in Riga. I was awarded a Bachelor of Arts.
