Hello, my name is Ģirts Dubults (he/she/they).
I am an artist and researcher from Latvia.
My main interest is choreography.
Despite background in contemporary dance, I use videos, photos and text in my works as well.
I seek to answer: How do bodies become people?
I work with language, memory and compassion
to create performative projects with a hunch of community in mind.
As a result emotional and intimate spaces emerge, where vulnerability prevails.
Shame ceases to exist and neglected femininity appears.
My main choregraphic tool is LipSync*.
It is an ongoing research process based on synchronization of lips - a technical term for matching a speaking or singing person's lip movements with sung or spoken vocals.
At the moment LipSync* manifests as a performative method and workshop.
It invites everyone to let go of social constraints and support each other by embodying favourite songs.
Now I am studying MA "Choreography" in Stockholm University of the Arts and I will graduate in June, 2026.
