Hello, my name is Ģirts Dubults (he/she/they).
I am a choreographer, interdisciplinary artist and researcher from Latvia.
Transgender body/is inform my artistic practice that spans performing arts, language and compassion.
In my performances I work with dance, text, photography, video and personal objects, feminine altars, to create space-time where human presence are important.
The question: "When does a body become a person and vice versa?" informs my creative expression.
I strongly believe that being a human is a collaborative act; hence, I engage with people by facilitating workshops, making performances and supporting different artistic inquiries.
When I perform, shame ceases to exist and neglected femininity appears.
I enjoy working with communities and participate in collaborative
processes, where participants are invited to reflect on themselves and their surroundings.
processes, where participants are invited to reflect on themselves and their surroundings.
For few years, I have been busy with an artistic research project - LipSync*.
It is based on synchronization of lips - a technical term for matching a speaking or singing person's lip movements with sung or spoken vocals.
LipSync* provides space-time to satisfy the need to break free from social norms that cause suffering to non-normative bodies.
With LipSync* I desire to humanize oneself and others.
I have developed my artistic practice in Spain, Sweden and Baltic countries.
I received a Master of Fine Arts degree in "Choreography"
from the Stockholm University of the Arts in June 2026.
Currently Reading: Paul B. Preciado "Dysphoria Mundi"
